                                            A Fine Day

Related image         A Fine Day by Michael Drayton is a simple poem about a day  which is almost perfect. It is an eight lines poem with lucid language and simple expression. Here he talks about the beauty of the day, he praises very morning of the day. The day is very clear from down that means the day is without the rain, there are no clouds anywhere in the sky.

In beginning of the poem ,poet projects Simile when he says that there are  thin clouds and he compares it with linen scarf. In first line, poet  says that the day is absolutely flawless , moving further to second line he says because of slanted razz, the sky looks as if it is chequred. Those thin clouds hide the sun as a veil hides a face. He says that  sun is heaven’s most glorious eye. So poet uses more figure of speech in a simple and short poem.

“Thin clouds like scarf of cobweb lawn”

Though the third line , the poet talks about thin clouds which are forming cobweb in the sky and he says that there is a law of the clouds on the sky, moving to forth line, he personifies the sun by giving it a name of an eye. Then in fifth line, he moving on wind ,personifies it that it is a weak like  person that he explains that in the sixth line , wind has no strength that’s why it blows leisurely, calmly as a weak person has no speed. It blowing in such a manner that in seventh line poet by using his imagination says that as a man kisses to other person , leaves are kiss to each other. In last line poet makes the leaves cone closer with every blow that it producer, the slow wing forces the leaf to kiss other one.

In this simple poem, we come across the fact that the poet was extremely fond of nature and through this poetry the poet showcases his expertise in the field of nature poetry with minimum of exaggeration  and maximum effects.
