The present poem is about love and shyness of the beloved. It starts with the coyness of beloved saying that if both the lover had enough time but beloved’s coyness/shyness became crime because they have very less time left and if they have enough time they can think over hoe to pass their ‘ long love’s day’.

Further in the poem, poet refers the Indian Ganga and Humber which in England through this poet wants to say that whenever they meet there is some distance between them because of beloved’s coyness/her refusal to surrender herself. Poet compares his love with the vegetables which grows day by day vaster than empires, he praised beloved’s body that she is so beautiful that he can pass the 100 years in praising her beloved .

Beloved is shy but whatever lover said regarding the years to praise is all about pure love. More than beloved deserved. Poet hears the sound of the ‘times winged chariot’ which is hurrying near which means time is passing very fast. Poet said what would happen is the beloved dies without having physical relation with the lover. If the coyness of beloved continue the date will come to die and her beauty is no more exist. Poet compares youth with ‘morning dew’ in the way dew drapes on the skin and goes within few time ,same youth  also stays for a while. Poet wants her to surrender herself to enjoy togetherness.

Poet says it’s not in our hand to stop the sun but if we can’t stop it we have to change with the time means before time goes , she should stop to be more shy and with all her willingness she should enjoy pleasures , he said life’s journey is long and it difficult to pass the time, they should strive hard  to be together.
